Zanyar Mihemmedînikû is a Kurdish filmmaker, poet, and film distributor from Bokan in Rojhelat Kurdistan (Iran), born in 1993. He served as a Jury Member at the third edition of the KIFF (Yılmaz Güney Edition) in 2022. Driven by an early passion for cinema and poetry, he began directing films at a young age and completed his first short fiction film As If Alive in 2013. In the same year, he joined the Iranian Youth Cinema Society in Urmia, where he studied filmmaking and graduated with a diploma in cinema.
Alongside filmmaking, he developed an active literary path through Kurdish poetry and published several poems on Kurdish literary platforms. His cinematic works include the documentary By My Side (2016), the short fiction film My Clayey Conception (2017), and Fingerprint, produced in collaboration with the Iranian Youth Cinema Society in Urmia.
Beyond directing, Zanyar worked as a set decorator and costume designer on more than fifteen short films. He is also the manager of Rêtaw Film Distributor, an independent Kurdish film distribution initiative focused on supporting and promoting Kurdish short films from Rojhelat, Rojava, Başûr, Bakûr, and the Kurdish diaspora in international film festivals.
He received several artistic grants and recognitions, including being selected multiple times as a talented young artist in Bokan and Urmia, and participated in the Talent Campus program of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival in 2018.
Zanyar also served as a jury member at the International Mesopotamia Film Festival in Turkey (2020) and the International Reel Youth Film Festival (2018).
