Nawzad Alani is a Kurdish artist, multimedia designer, theater practitioner, and cultural organizer born in Sulaymaniyah in 1970. His artistic journey combines visual arts, theater, cultural activism, and Kurdish independent cultural initiatives across Kurdistan and Denmark.
He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Duhok in 1991 before continuing his studies in Multimedia Design in Copenhagen, Denmark, graduating in 2000.
Throughout his artistic career, Alani participated in several theatrical productions in Sulaymaniyah and Denmark as actor and assistant director, developing an artistic language connected to performance, visual culture, and collective cultural identity.
Among the theatrical productions he participated in are:

• Sabbagh
• Apples Are Falling
• The King
where he worked across acting and assistant directing in Kurdish and Danish-language theater productions.
Alongside his artistic activities, Alani played an active role in Kurdish cultural and civil organizations and held leadership positions in several initiatives and institutions, including:
• Kurdocide Watch
• Kurdish Youth Union in Denmark (1992–1993)
• Maná 4 Organization
He also served as director of the Kurdish Film Festival in Denmark, contributing to the promotion of Kurdish cinema and independent cultural dialogue within the European Kurdish diaspora.
His artistic and cultural approach combines visual arts, theater, and social engagement, with particular attention to Kurdish identity, cultural memory, and the role of art in preserving collective narratives.
At the 1st edition of the Kobani International Film Festival 2020, Nawzad Alani participated as a member of the Jury Committee, contributing a perspective shaped by theater, visual arts, and Kurdish cultural work in Europe.
