Jano Rosebiani is a Kurdish-American filmmaker, writer, producer, and editor recognized as one of the leading Kurdish voices in world cinema through a cinematic body of work deeply connected to identity, exile, collective memory, and human rights.
His films combine realism, political observation, and dark humor within an independent cinematic language shaped by stories emerging from marginalized communities, conflict zones, and displaced lives.
Rosebiani gained international recognition through his feature film Jiyan (Life), which was nominated for the Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and received critical attention from international media outlets including The Guardian and BBC World. His feature film Chaplin of the Mountains was later selected as a Critics’ Pick by The New York Times during its theatrical release in New York.
