Synopsis:
This documentary highlights the long history of Kurdish migration to Egypt, both voluntary and forced, from the era of the pharaohs to the time of Saladin and Mohammed Ali Pasha. It explores the contributions of influential Kurdish figures in Egypt’s political, intellectual, literary, cultural, and cinematic development. The film also examines regions where Kurdish communities have lived since ancient times, emphasizing their lasting presence and cultural influence.
Award:
The film won the Best Documentary Award at the 3rd edition of the Kobani International Film Festival, dedicated to Kurdish filmmaker Yılmaz Güney.
About the Director:
Zhe Kamil Mohammed Amin is a Kurdish filmmaker originally from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and currently based in Germany. With over 22 years of experience in media and cinema, he has worked as a director, editor, and cinematographer. He has participated in numerous festivals both inside Iraq and internationally and collaborated with Kurdish, Iraqi, Syrian, Iranian, and Egyptian filmmakers and artists.
