Jean Houro is a Syrian-German filmmaker and actor whose artistic experience moves between independent cinema, theater, and television. His work reflects a visual and human-centered approach shaped by experiences across Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, and Germany.

He began his artistic journey in theater in the city of Aleppo before studying film directing in Beirut, later working on independent productions in directing, cinematography, screenwriting, and visual storytelling.

Over the years, he collaborated on several cinematic and television projects within European and Middle Eastern productions, contributing across directing, camera, and visual production departments.

His artistic approach focuses on visual detail, emotional rhythm, and stories connected to identity, displacement, and social transformation.

Between 2017 and 2021, he worked with Polyphon Film- und Fernsehgesellschaft in Germany, participating in film and television productions within directing, camera, and lighting departments.

At the 4th edition of the Kobani International Film Festival 2023, Jean Houro served as Selection Committee Coordinator, contributing to the organization and supervision of the film viewing and evaluation process across the festival’s various sections.
