Jawad Morad is a Kurdish-Syrian cartoonist, animation director, and visual artist based in Belgium whose artistic journey moves between animation, caricature, illustration, and socially engaged visual storytelling. His work combines satire, motion, and visual expression through projects developed across Syria, Kurdistan-Iraq, and Europe.
He graduated from Damascus University – Faculty of Literature and Human Sciences before continuing his artistic studies at the Adham Ismail Institute of Arts, where he developed a strong connection to caricature, animation, visual identity, and socially driven illustration.
His professional career evolved through animation studios, television channels, and media institutions in Damascus and Erbil, working with:

• Almada TV
• Samarra TV
Across these experiences, he worked in animation directing, character design, caricature art, motion graphics, and visual campaign production, developing a visual language rooted in expressive storytelling and graphic movement.
Alongside his media work, Morad collaborated with several international humanitarian organizations and awareness campaigns, including projects connected to:

• UNICEF
• NRC
• ACTED
• TDH
He also supervised comics, drawing, and animation workshops inside refugee camps in Iraq in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, using visual art and animation as tools for expression, awareness, and psychological support for children and young people.
His artistic presence also extended to caricature and visual-art exhibitions through solo exhibitions in Damascus, Lebanon, Erbil, and Duhok, in addition to participating in collective exhibitions across:

• Amsterdam
• London
• Berlin
where his work reflected a visual dialogue between Kurdish identity, satire, and contemporary graphic art.
His artistic approach combines caricature aesthetics, animation, and socially conscious visual storytelling, with a strong emphasis on visual identity, symbolic expression, and the emotional power of image and movement.
At the 6th edition of the Kobani International Film Festival 2025, Jawad Morad serves as a member of the Animation Films Committee, contributing a visual perspective shaped by animation, caricature, and contemporary visual arts.
