Syrian-Kurdish filmmaker, actor, and visual artist born in Afrin, Syria, in 1985. He graduated from the Academy of Cinematic and Performing Arts in Beirut, specializing in directing and audiovisual arts.
Jan Horo began his artistic journey in theatre between 1998 and 2003, participating in several stage productions in Aleppo and Latakia before moving toward cinema and visual storytelling. He later worked in both acting and assistant directing across Syrian and Kurdish film productions.
His filmography includes short fiction and experimental works presented in Lebanon, Turkey, and Germany, among them Helm Al-Yasameen (2014), Gustilk (2017), The Father (2018), and The Big Fish (2018). He also contributed to the feature film Shero in writing, directing, and acting.
Alongside his filmmaking work, Jan Horo collaborated with the German production company Polyphon as part of the television series Familie Dr. Kleist, working within the camera department and visual production team.
At the Kobani International Film Festival, Jan Horo served as a member of the Selection Committee during the festival’s third edition in 2022, contributing to the artistic evaluation and film selection process.
