Festival Management Award

Overview

A short film by Kurdish filmmaker Aram Dildar, The Address – Navnîşan follows Edîb, a young teacher assigned to work in a remote village, only to discover upon arrival that the village officially does not exist.

Through this deceptively simple premise, the film develops into a layered reflection on bureaucracy, identity, and political invisibility. The absence of the village from official records gradually becomes a symbol of denial and erasure experienced by marginalized communities.

The film relies on restrained visual storytelling and a realistic cinematic atmosphere, using silence, landscapes, and spatial emptiness to emphasize alienation and uncertainty. Geography itself becomes part of the dramatic conflict.

More than a physical location, the “address” transforms into a philosophical and political question about existence, belonging, and recognition. Through Edîb’s journey, the film quietly confronts the gap between official truth and lived reality.

At the 4th edition of the Kobani International Film Festival, Yılmaz Güney Second Edition, the film received the Festival Management Award for its artistic sensitivity and its ability to address contemporary political realities through a calm and human cinematic approach.
