Dilbreen Mousa

Narrative Films Committee

Dilbreen Mousa is a Syrian writer, director, critic, and television producer whose artistic journey bridges television drama, documentary filmmaking, theater criticism, and cultural media production across Syria and Iraq.

A graduate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus in Theater Criticism and Literature, he began his professional career in Syrian television during the late 1990s, working in directing, producing, and developing cultural, artistic, and documentary television programs.

Over the years, he contributed to hundreds of hours of television productions, documentaries, and live cultural broadcasts for Syrian national television and several Arab media institutions.

His experience expanded across drama writing, documentary filmmaking, and cultural programming through collaborations with regional and international media and cultural organizations, including:

  • Al Jazeera
  • Dubai TV
  • Abu Dhabi TV
  • UNDP
  • IOM

Alongside his television work, he wrote and directed documentary films and dramatic productions while contributing extensively to theater and cinema criticism within Arab cultural journalism.

His artistic approach combines documentary realism with dramatic sensibility, often focusing on social issues, collective memory, and the relationship between image, culture, and identity.

Throughout his career, he participated in several theater and film juries and cultural committees in Syria and Kurdistan-Iraq, and also contributed to the establishment and launch of Syria Drama TV Channel.

At the 4th edition of the Kobani International Film Festival 2023, Dilbreen Mousa participated as a member of the Narrative Films Selection Committee, bringing extensive experience in television drama, documentary cinema, and cultural criticism.
