Nuri Haji Sheikho is a Kurdish-Syrian filmmaker and visual storyteller based in Istanbul, whose artistic work moves between short films, documentary cinema, acting, and cinematic makeup within an independent visual practice connected to social reality and Kurdish identity.
Born in Aleppo, Syria, in 1995, he studied Economics before dedicating himself to filmmaking and visual production. Alongside his cinematic work, he developed experience across acting, documentary reporting, and cinematic makeup, building a multidisciplinary artistic approach rooted in independent visual storytelling.
His directorial work includes several short and documentary films, among them:

Through these projects, Sheikho explored themes connected to memory, borders, marginalized communities, disappearing cultures, and personal identity, often relying on realistic imagery and emotionally driven visual narratives.
Alongside directing, he also participated in acting projects and documentary field reporting, while expanding his artistic experience into cinematic makeup and character-based visual transformation.
His artistic approach combines documentary sensitivity with independent cinematic experimentation, focusing on human stories, visual atmosphere, and socially grounded narratives emerging from Kurdish and regional realities.
At the 6th edition of the Kobani International Film Festival 2025, Nuri Haji Sheikho serves as a member of the Selection & Preliminary Evaluation Committee, contributing a perspective shaped by independent filmmaking, documentary practice, and visual storytelling.
